At their meeting in Paris on Wednesday, the World Motor Sport Council acknowledged the unfortunate cancellation of the Race of Thailand, which was the penultimate round scheduled for the 2016 FIA World Touring Car Championship, WTCC.

The race was scheduled to take place on 6 November 2016, but as a result of unresolved issues between the FIA World Touring Car Championship Promoter, Eurosport Events, and the Race of Thailand Promoter, the Royal Automobile Association of Thailand, they had no other choice than to cancel the event.

This means that the next race will be under floodlights in Qatar from 25-26 November, the final chance for Tiago Monteiro and Yvan Muller to fight it out for second place in the drivers championship.
